Roof to Wall Attachment
We look for the attachment from the rafter/truss to the top plate of the wall, fo the following attachment types:
1. Toe Nail
2. Clips
3. Single Wraps
4. Double Wraps
5. Anchor bolts or Reinforced Concrete Roof
A variety of Truss-Rafter/Wall connections exist in homes. The insurance industry automatically defaults to Toe Nail connection which is the most expensive. Homeowners can save money on their windstorm coverage just on having clips or straps.
Most construction in our area have clips or straps. Some older homes with low slopes are not accessible to inspect for clips or straps. If you have removable soffits, sometimes you can inspect for clips or straps thru the soffit area. Most of the time this inspection is completed in the attic, which we need ample room to move around. This is typically a good discount.
