     There are four items to check in classifying a deck attachment. Deck material, deck thickness, fastener type, and fastener size.

     To achieve the best rating with plywood or OSB the deck must be at least 7/16 thickness with 8D nails or screws and must be spaced 6”/6” with less that 3 nail misses per 4’ of structure.

Deck Material

  • Plywood - OSB (minimum 7/16" thick)
  • Planks - Dimensional Lumber

Size of Nails or Screws

  • Determined by locating a missed nail/screw

Spacing of Nails

  • By Scanning with a meter

Measure Deck Thickness

  • Determine the thickness of the plywood
