Opening Protection
To qualify for the opening protection every opening must be protected with an impact resistent covering. Impact resistant doors and/or impact resistant glazing that meets the requirements for large missle impacts.

For the insurance industry, all windows and doors (every type of opening) must be protected from debris impact, not just the Glazed openings as required by the Florida Building Code.
There are two ways to protect openings from debris impact. One is to install window and door products designed and tested to meet impact, with pressure and pressure cycle test requirements. The other way is to cover the windows or doors with external protection devices approved by the Florida Building Code.

Impact Rated Storm Garage Door
The track on your garage door is also a point of failure during a hurricane. We check the track on your garage door. With both hands, grab a section of each track and see if it is loose or if it can be twisted. If so, a stronger track should be installed. We make sure that it is anchored to the solid wood inside the wall with heavy wood bolts or properly attached to masonry with expansion bolts.
